started life as Sheila McCormick in the '60s in the North Island
of New Zealand.
Her
goal of being a millionnaire by the time she turned
30 was hindered by a motorbike accident at 15.

died on the operating table, and was brought back only
to be told she’d never walk again.

told the doctor she’d not only walk, she’d dance
on his grave.
Within
seven years she had overcome massive odds to become a medal-winning
ballroom and Latin dancer, and a professional model and actress.

In
her early 20s she married and decided to go back to her original
dream of being a millionaire before age 30.
She
selected a nationally respected direct marketing company as
the vehicle and started as a door-to-door sales person.
Within a year she was heading her own division.
You’ll
laugh and cry and laugh some more at her enormous failures and
astonishing successes, and you’ll learn that you

She
had almost achieved that first million, and had moved with her
husband to grow her dream in Australia, when at age 24 she
made a split-second decision that saved the life of a pedestrian,
but ended up so injured in the car crash that the doctors
told her if she lived to age 30 she would probably be vegetative.
The
nerves that controlled the left side of her body were damaged,
she couldn’t lift a glass of water with her left hand.
She could stand for no more than a minute, or walk for more
than five minutes, she couldn’t speak without stuttering.
The pain was immense. She would black out several times a day.
After
18 months of unhelpful traditional treatments she took
back responsibility for her healing and her life.
The

1989 she co-created the first independent third-party support
organization in Australia.

1995 she had created a strategy that saved more than
45% of the 6.5 million dollars that was being spent
annually in end-user computing costs for every 1000 P.C.s. in
Australia.
She
became the first woman to sit on the board
of the Queensland branch of the Australian Information Industries
Association.
She
single-handedly co-opted the unanimous support of every
major computer organization in the country and ‘established
an end-user support traineeship that introduced an entirely
new, much-needed path within the IT Industry which created thousands
of jobs at the level where they were most needed’

This
resulted in her being the first individual ever to be
nominated for an IT&T Industry Development Award
for Excellence.

To
achieve every goal she used exactly the same tools!
She
became famous for her ‘fireside chat’ presentations
as she traveled the country advising both State and
Federal Government as well as private enterprise,
and no one ever knew that this too was a strategy: She sat down
in a comfortable chair to talk with her audiences because she
couldn’t physically stand for more than a few minutes.
She
wasn’t about to tell anyone that. As one of only two women
in an executive position in an industry when women weren’t
exactly welcomed, she met all kinds of prejudice but
used her formidable tools to move her through each challenging
situation.
In
a speech she was asked to do on Women In I.T., she recalls how
she had gone to present a strategy to one of the most powerful
government agents in the state.
The
strategy outlined how to save $580,000 a year
on the agent's end-user computing with little or no
effort. His only comment was "I’ve had
an erection ever since you walked in the room."
Another
story tells of hearing two senior officials talking after she
presented a proposal to save over eight million dollars
in computing costs in the first year: "That’s
what happens when you let a woman out of the kitchen!”
The

In
1996 personal tragedy struck again. An attempt was made
on her life, she lost everything she had created. The
businesses, her houses, cars, husband, health - everything was
gone.
In
12 months she went from affluent industry leader to single mother
on welfare, victim of the largest domestic violence
siege ever staged on the Gold Coast.
Her
health deteriorated. It was time to overcome a whole new set
of challenges, change life paths, and names (why not?) and from
here SamanthaJoy was born.
You
cannot fail to be moved when you hear the story of how
she took control of her life and became a healer so
that she could heal herself, and how she began to teach others
how to heal themselves.
She
learned that healing, like business, has to be holistic,

the new millennium she was back on her feet, secure and stable,
enjoying life on the Gold Coast of Australia. Living her truth
- the most important thing in her life because 'you can’t
teach what you don’t live.'
She
had just gotten comfortable..
The
story of how JOY went from happy-ever-after in tropical Queensland
to standing at LAX at with two suitcases, a briefcase and a
nine-year-old daughter is even more incredible than her other
stories.
She
arrived however, on July 18th 2000. She was as far from home,
family and everything familiar as it was possible to get.
She knew no one on this continent, she had no clear
idea of what to do next, and she was not yet aware that everything
she had placed in storage had been stolen and that she was now
holding all she owned.
But
she still had all her internal resources, her
common sense, her skills, her resourcefulness, her sense of
humor, and her angels! That’s enough.
JOY!
and her daughter Christie began their world tour in the only
place suitable to start such an adventure: Disneyland!
By
their third day in America they were installed in the
home of Joan, a film producer in Santa Monica, creating videos
on three of JOY!’s workshops.

first person they met at the convention was Tim, a proud new
Dad showing off photos of his baby. JOY! did a face reading
for the infant and then discovered that Tim owned America’s
largest New Age video distribution company. His office was in
Venice, 10 minutes from Joan, the producer’s home. He
is, of course, JOY’s video distributor.
